Well, the all-too-common has happened, and Kendrick Lamar's much-anticipated debut full-length album has been pushed back. good kid, m.A.A.d. city was last scheduled to hit shelves on October 2, but will now see availability on October 22, unless of course there is another postponement. The TDE emcee's forthcoming project is easily one of the most-hyped of the year, so the sooner it gets here, the better.

Frank Ocean Performing on Saturday Night Live Season Opener

Less than 24 hours after the announcement that Frank Ocean will perform at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live is set to be another port of call for the R&B singer. SNL’s season curtain raiser will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane and will air September 15. The double high profile appearances could go some way to making up for the string of cancelled shows in Europe and an August 1 show in Detroit due to illness.

Lupe Fiasco & Guy Sebastian – Battle Scars

Seemingly out of nowhere comes the official music video for Lupe Fiasco's collaboration with Australian singer Guy Sebastian, called Battle Scars. The song has been conquering the charts down under and has now received the visual treatment in support of Lupe's Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album. As we know, Lupe has always been somewhat culture-pushing in his approach to music, and lyrical content. Hence, it comes as no surprise that offering also carries a strong positive message.

Will.I.Am Teams With NASA to Broadcast Song From Mars

Will.I.Am has teamed with NASA and Discovery Education for a special educational event that includes a new song that will be broadcasted from the Curiosity rover on Mars. "Reach for the Stars," a cosmic tribute from the Black Eyed Peas leader, will premiere at a special event tomorrow starting 1 p.m. PDT [4pm EST] at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Frank Ocean will Perform at The VMAs

Frank Ocean continues his winning streak this year as he has been announced as a performer for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. While being nominated for three awards including Best New Artist and Best Male Artist, he is also expected to deliver material off his critically acclaimed album channel.ORANGE.

The lineup further includes Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink, One Direction, 2 Chainz, Ke$ha, and Alicia Keys, who is set debut the title track off her upcoming album Girl on Fire. The event will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, and aired live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 6 at 8 p.m. EST.

When the news of Lupe's next two singles hit the internet, the album cover was first revealed, but it wasn't sure at the time if the featured art was just serving as a filler. With official pre-orders on the upcoming album being made available today, it's now official the blacked-out cover is actually going to be the artwork chosen for the new project. New York Senator Wants Public Apology from Lil Wayne

In case you hadn't heard, during a recent interview with MTV, Lil Wayne went so far as to saying that he flat-out does not like New York. Expectantly, the strong statement has caused somewhat of an uproar throughout the Empire State, so much so that one NY senator, Malcolm Smith, is asking for a public apology from the Young Money rapper.

"New York City is the birthplace of the Hip Hop music movement. Millions of New Yorkers listen to his music every day. His comments is outraged his local fans and residents. The group today will be demanding an apology of the hip hop star. Lil Wayne has had misfortune in New York with recent gun charges and a jail sentence."

No followup word has been released yet from Wayne's camp, but this should undoubtedly be interesting. Stay tuned.

He just seems to be too fond of controversy, especially when it comes to New York City - the place where he was arrested in 2007 and convicted in 2009 on gun possession charges. It is also the same city where he decided to pull out his label mate Nicki Minaj from this year's Hot 97 summer jam festivities, after having been disrespected by radio personality Peter Rosenberg. Weezy helped Ms. Minaj organizing an intimate concert at the Roseland Ballroom in order to compensate her fans for disappearing at summer jam. Kanye West and Nicki Minaj Might Become Judges in American Idol

It looks like American Idol is looking to add some hip-hop perspective to their judgement system. As TMZ points out, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have been added to the list of potential judges that “expressed interest” in joining the casting show. Pharrell Williams and Diddy have been previously added to this list. If Yeezy should join this team, he is also expected to cash in seriously, as it would "at least match Mariah's salary" of $18 million a year. Stay tuned and expect a final decision on this really soon as the new seasons kicks off in January.

Trap Tuesday: Vol. 1

On the first edition of Trap Tuesday, I would like to show you tracks that I discovered on Soundcloud. First, there is a new track by the duo Flosstradamus called "Underground Anthem" that takes it back to the roots of trap music with heavy bass and synth undertones. Sampling and chopping the words "underground" also adds to the lively feel of this track

Bassnectar remixing his own song? It must be good. Bassnectar released a trapstyle remix of his own "Vava Voom" song that features Lupe Fiasco. Sampling the original Lupe Fiasco, the beat drops into an echo-ing "ay" coupled with a high synth and hi-hats/snare combination. Although every artist seems to be getting a crack at trapstyle, Bassnectar executes this trapstyle remix flawlessly.

With less than 24 hours to go until DJ Khaled’s Kiss The Ring album drops, the producer drops off another double-track video that includes dancehall artisan Mavado. Suicidal starts off the clip and acts as a homage to the everyday struggles that certain elements of the Jamaican population endure on a daily basis. Aktion Pak vastly contrasts in terms of ambiance with the pace picking up significantly and the inclusion of scantily clad women. Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin - Don’t You Worry Child

Over the weekend, electronic dance music trio Swedish House Mafia premiered their new single “Don’t You Worry Child” featuring John Martin! On the heels of their highly-publicized hiatus announcement about a month ago, the legendary trio premiered the track on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection. The good news is that Don’t You Worry Child has lived up to the massive expectations and is a gorgeous progressive house tune with magnificent vocals from John Martin, who was also featured on Save The World. Lady Gaga & Kendrick Lamar Collaboration?

After Lady Gaga surprised many by showing up to Kendrick Lamar's performance at this year's Pitchfork Festival, today the pop icon turns to her Twitter and revealed that she collaborated with the Compton emcee for a single set to appear on his debut album good Kid, m.A.A.d City. Lady Gaga went on to share:

I am so excited to announce that a record I've been working on has now become a collaboration with @kendricklamar for HIS ALBUM.

Lady Gaga has since gone on to remove the tweet revealing the track's release date and title, but once news hits the internet it's there forever they say. good Kid, m.A.A.d City is set to hit shelves October 2.

Kanye West Speaks on His Writing Process

Some artists use notepads. Some use their phones, and others even napkins. There are a few out there, however, who rarely ever write down their lyrics. This is exactly what Kanye said he had done on all of his previous albums before My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Upon feeling the pressure from fans and the media, Ye knew he had to deliver with said album, so he finally took to jotting down his thoughts.

Exclusive Lupe Fiasco Singles to be released via iTunes

Having just released Lamborghini Angels, Lupe will keep the ball rolling as we get closer to the album release date.

According to iTunes' Complete My Album, we can expect "Form Follows Function" to be released 2 weeks from now on August 28th. Another 2 weeks after that, a previously unannounced song titled "How Dare You" will drop on September 11th.

Be on the look out for the video to B**ch Bad which should be dropping soon, and of course be ready for Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part 1 to be available everywhere on September 25th!


Side note: We can't confirm yet whether the black box in the picture above is the album cover or just a place-holder at iTunes. But considering the format of the artwork for the singles, we can't count anything out when it comes to Lupe.

The Kanye West and Rick Ross-assisted track serves as the second single from Khaled's upcoming album Kiss The Ring, following his track "Take It To The Head." The latest video comes directed by Hype Williams and also features Kanye West's single "Way Too Cold," which includes a cameo from his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Kid Cudi feat. King Chip - Just What I Am (Prod. Kid Cudi)

The evolution of Kid Cudi isn't a predictable path, but the G.O.O.D. Music representative hinted at what he's been working on in our interview with Complex last month, when he told them

"I've been writing some really serious raps. I've been writing some s**t that's going to f**k people up."

With new material on the way in the form of the upcoming album indicud, which Cudi called his version of The Chronic 2001, he decided to unleash "Just What I Am," a new cut from the project produced entirely by Cudder himself. This one features Cudi back to his rapping ways, and longtime collaborator King Chip (formerly known as Chip Tha Ripper) joins in to lend a hand. Check it out below.

G.O.O.D. Music - Cruel Summer Gets Pushed Back Again

When we first got word of a release date for the G.O.O.D. Music compilation album Cruel Summer, Pusha T shared with Funkmaster Flex that the project would be released on August 7. Then a short time later Kanye West shared the cover art for the album and announced the official release date to be September 4. Now according to G.O.O.D. Music’s own Malik Yusef and Amazon, it looks like the album may be released on September 18, two weeks later than the date announced by Def Jam. Yusef tweeted out in response to a fan:

Drake Breaks Jay-Z's Record

Drake has broken Jay-Z's record for the most number one hits on the R&B/Hip Hop chart. The Young Money superstar now has obtained seven collaborations alongside three lead singles to grab the top spot on the chart. "No Lie," his collaboration with 2 Chainz, put him over the top.

Jay-Z has only nine number ones, including four lead singles and five collaborations.

Lil Wayne follows Jay with eight number ones, and Kanye West has had six number ones--three lead singles and three collaborations--giving him the fourth spot.

The OVO Fest of 2012 passed a couple days ago and took place in Canada this year. Kanye West & Skrillex Collaboration?

What? Skrillex with Kanye? Really? Yes.

While Kanye West is currently focused on releasing the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation album Cruel Summer, we get some news in regards to West's forthcoming solo project. It what looks like a collision of hip hop and electronic music, producer/DJ Skrillex recently spoke with The Daily Best, and shared that he and Yeezy have a track together in the works. Following his performance this past weekend in Los Angeles at HARD Summer, Skrillex went on to say:

I did some music with Kanye and from what I know, it’s actually going to be the first song on his new album.

Lets see how good this album will be with Kanye West & Skrillex will be.

TeeTs - Wide Awake for the Finale

After hearing this artist on Turntable.fm, I knew TeeTs had a knack for musical arrangement. Wide Awake for the Finale is one of his more recent mashups that uses "Finale" by Madeon and "Wide Awake" by Katy Perry. Doing some research, TeeTs melds both the original and dub mix of "Finale" flawlessly. People may think it is absurd to replace the original vocals of Madeon's new masterpiece. However, Katy Perry's voice signifies Madeon's melodic style in "Finale". From start to finish, this mashup feels like it should be played at a big sporting event. As an avid listener of music, I try to expand my horizons on every type of music I listen to. In high school, I used to listen to rock and hip hop music. On the other hand, I grew to like electronic dance music and the different variations within that genre. Euphoric melodies and hard-hitting drums are synonymous with EDM festivals around the world. However, a new genre is starting to emerge called trapstyle music. As defined by many music enthusiasts, trapstyle music is the combination of a hip hop drum pattern with electronic dance music synths. The hard-hitting 808 drums, combined with heavy bass tones and electronic synths, give the listener an adrenaline rush similar to dubstep. Artists, such as Flosstradamus, UZ, and CRNKN, reinvented the craze of electronic dance music and drove trapstyle to new heights. However, one artist surpasses all the critical-acclaim obtained for this particular genre. Luminox, also known as Damage, produced many EDM tracks outside the trapstyle genre. However, his niche in trapstyle makes you wonder why he didn't produce these kind of tracks before. Coupled with crisp hi-hats and bass tones, Luminox takes trapstyle to a new level of EDM music. After posting my album Electro Revival on a forum called GYBO, someone named DJ Nicky commented on my post. I decided to check him out because he gave me positive feedback on my songs and followed me on Soundcloud. One track that stood out to me is the pairing of Linkin Park's hit single "Burn it Down" and Sander van Doorn's melodic track "Chasin'". If you followed the NBA playoffs, you probably got tired of hearing of Linkin Park's song all the time. However, DJ Nicky brings this song in a new light of electronic dance music.
